- Some features of Samsung One UI 8.5 leaked online
- They cover cameras, artificial intelligence, notifications and more.
- Beta program could launch in the coming weeks
Samsung One UI 8 (based on Android 16) was deployed to Galaxy devices over the past few months, but the next major software update is just around the corner in the form of One UI 8.5 – and quite a few of its features have already been revealed.
One UI 8.5 is not yet official, but Samsung is expected to launch a beta program before the end of the year and then release the finished update to its phones and tablets sometime in 2026.
Samsung Galaxy S26 series will likely be the first to receive the new software, but we don't yet know which other devices will be compatible. While we wait for One UI 8.5 to release, here are five features we've heard about.
1. Priority notifications

It looks like One UI 8.5 will include additional features for prioritizing certain notifications over others – which could help cut through the avalanche of alerts that most of us receive on our phones every day.
Team in SammyGuru was even able to get this feature to work through leaked One UI 8.5 code. Notifications can be prioritized on a per-app basis, highlighted and placed on top of other alerts you receive from your apps.
2. Camera Presets
There have been complaints that Samsung has neglected to update the camera hardware on its flagship phones in recent years, but One UI 8.5 at least has updates that will help mobile photographers: camera presets.
Android authority found references to these presets in a leaked build of the upcoming software, so you'll be able to tweak specific settings for ISO, exposure, shutter speed, etc., and switch between them as needed.
3. Cleaning up photos

From camera settings to image editing and tips @tarunvats33 discovered that the Object Eraser tool is integrated directly into the generative editing workflow in the Samsung Gallery app, which comes pre-installed on Galaxy devices.
It's not that big of a change – it's not a new feature, it's just moving an existing feature – but it means you'll be able to use the power of AI to remove an object in an image with fewer clicks using the Generator Edit (sparkling stars) button.
4. Adaptive Data Saving
Another feature found in the leaked code Android authority this is what is called the adaptive data saving feature. Based on the name and links in the code, this means that videos from social networks will not load automatically, but only when you specifically select them.
This will be useful for those with a limited data plan or poor internet connection, although we'll have to wait and see exactly how it works. According to the code, the video speed and quality will not change in most cases.
5. Edge Panel Landscape Mode

According to the team, Edge Panel is a pop-up shortcut window available in One UI 8, and it looks like the next software update will bring some additional flexibility to this panel. SamMobile.
In particular, Edge Panel may support landscape orientation for the first time, making it easier to access and operate when rotating the screen. However, as with all these updates, we'll have to wait and see if it makes it into the final version.
