Samsung will officially release Galaxy Z TriFold enabled December 12 in South Korea. This dual-hinge phone is slated to launch in the first quarter of 2026 in the US. However, I wouldn't get your hopes up if you live in Canada. Canadians did not officially receive the first Galaxy Fold, and we, unfortunately, will not get our hands on Galaxy XR at the moment too.
However, if it launches in Canada, it will be expensive – in Korea, the device will cost 3,590,400 won (about $3,418 CAD) for 512 GB of internal memory.
This phablet features a 10-inch internal screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1584 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate that drops to 1Hz. TriFold allows you to use three apps simultaneously vertically and even use Samsung's DeX mode. The external screen features a 6.5-inch display with 1080p resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. All panels have different thicknesses, the thickest is 4.2 mm. The thinnest panel is 3.9mm thick, while the other panel is 4.0mm thick.
Samsung's two outer bezels fold inside the center bezel, and the back of the middle bezel houses a 6.5-inch screen. This is very different from Huawei's Z-shaped foldable device. When the phone is in phone mode, it is about 12.9mm thick, which is enough for any smartphone. Surprisingly, TriFold is only 0.8mm thicker than Z-fold 6 which came out in 2024; however, more than 3 mm thicker than Z Fold 7, 2025.
Samsung says the phone undergoes a multiple fold test of 200,000 cycles, which roughly equates to folding 100 times a day for five years.
The back panel is said to be made from a “ceramic-glass fiber reinforced polymer” that should resist cracking. The phone is IP48 waterproof but not completely dustproof, which is somewhat similar to the Z Fold 7. The device is said to have a 200-megapixel main camera with f/1.7 aperture, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x zoom. There are 10-megapixel sensors installed on the cover and the internal screen of the phone. In total, the device has a capacity of 5600 mAh, but this capacity is made up of three batteries. It also features the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and S25 series, and includes 16GB of RAM.
It will be strange when this device arrives in the US with last year's Snapdragon processor, while the S26 series will likely feature Qualcomm's newer and better S processor.Nadragon 8 Elite 5th generation.
Edge was able to confirm that the TriFold is not compatible with the S Pen, just like the Z Fold 7. We reached out to Samsung about availability in Canada.
