This is the year of thin phones, and although they aren't very popular, these phones are impressive. I really like to use iPhone Airand former MobileSyrup member Brad Bennett was also a big fan of the phone. And although the telephone is a subtle miracle, Galaxy S25 Edge impressive. Samsung's thin phone may be a little thicker, but it has a larger battery, a 200-megapixel camera, and an ultra-wide-angle lens.
Other impressive phones arriving in Canada this year include OnePlus 15which is equipped with a 7300 mAh battery and RedMagic 11 Pro with a 7500 mAh battery. Both feature vapor chambers, with the RedMagic 11 Pro featuring flow-through liquid cooling and the OP15 featuring aerospace-grade airgel for insulation.
While these four devices have impressed me this year, along with iPhone 17 pro maxwhich houses a vapor chamber with deionized water sealed inside for enhanced performance, and a unibody aluminum body optimized for performance and battery, even with only a 5088mAh battery (GSMArena), iPhone 17 Pro can last about two days.
However Samsung Galaxy Z Foldable 7 takes the cake. When folded, the phone weighs 215 g, and when unfolded its thickness is 4.2 mm. Additionally, it comes with 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of internal storage, Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 6.5-inch screen protector and an 8-inch foldable screen, as well as a 200-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel camera.
The Honor Magic V5 may be the thinnest foldable smartphone on the market (not tri-fold), but at its thinnest it measures 4.1mm, which is just 0.1mm thicker than the Galaxy Fold 7.
Year after year, Samsung has been improving the Z Fold series, and with the Z Fold 7, the company has created a phone with a good screen protector and an ideal aspect ratio, an incredibly thin device with a very durable body.
If Galaxy TriFold from Samsung When it comes to Canada, it will definitely win this award, but until then, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 remains the “Most Innovative” phone of the year.
