Who needs champagne and confetti to ring in the New Year? More than 4,300 runners laced up their running shoes for New York City's annual Road Runners Midnight Run in Central Park.
Among two of the thousands at the sold-out tour was our very own sports presenter Sam Ryan. She completed the four mile race.

Eyewitness News anchor Liz Cho also ran away with her daughter Lulu. Looks like they had a great time there.
This year's race included several festive entertainment events to ring in the New Year, including a sparkling cider station, DJs at the start, finish and on the course, and fluorescent racing bibs that created the new Midnight Run Glow Tunnel experience.
Running through the park, athletes had a front row seat to enjoy the magnificent fireworks display.
Congratulations to Liz, Sam and all the runners who took part.
