WHO IS TYLER SHAW? SAINTS ROOKIE OVER 12 YEARS OLD PLANNED AT QBS START

Shaw was high on the quarterback draft board in April, but some skeptics noted how many years he played in college. Shaw spent three seasons at Oregon and Texas Tech before finishing in Louisville in 2024.

He was 25 years old when he graduated from college, but the Saints put him at the top of their draft board heading into a season when a quarterback was clearly needed following the departure of Derek Carr.

Rattler won the training camp quarterback battle over Shaw, but after going 1-7, Moore switched to his rookie.

The Saints didn't try to rush Slough's development process, but once they believed he was ready, he didn't waste time.

“Sometimes your greatest strengths become your weaknesses, and so I'm being very patient, I think, and whether it helps or not, hopefully it does,” Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said of not rushing Shaw. “I think so, but I will continue to be like this.

“Again, we're excited about Tyler… but we have to remember he hasn't made 17 starts yet. So we're going into next season with such high expectations and there's nothing wrong with that.
