Russell Wilson went from starting cornerback for the New York Giants to third string just weeks into the 2025 season, leaving many wondering whether the 10-time Pro Bowler will decide to play next season.

Wilson, 37, doesn't appear to be thinking through his decision. He wants to play in 2026.

“I don't blink,” Wilson said. for DREAMS. “I know [what] I'm capable. I think I showed that in Dallas and I want to be able to do it again, you know, and just be ready to rock and roll and be as healthy as possible and be ready to play ball.”

Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million minimum contract with the Giants last offseason, which provided plenty of incentive if he played the full season.

That same offseason, the Giants returned in the first round by drafting Jackson Dart. Ole Missand he proved during training camp that he has NFL-ready bats under center.

The Giants are staying with general manager Joe Schon despite another losing season, citing the need for “continuity and stability.”

However, then-head coach Brian Daboll was steadfast in his decision to start Wilson despite Dart's success. But just three games later, in which the Giants lost 0-3, a change took place.

Daboll went with Dart in week four against Los Angeles Chargers home, and the rookie defeated Justin Herbert and company, not only earning his first career win, but also cementing himself as the team's starter moving forward.

Even then, Wilson remained positive, saying in a post-practice interview that he understands the team's direction and wants to help Dart develop and grow in his new role.

In three starts for the Giants, Wilson threw for 831 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions, although all of those touchdowns came in the second week of overtime that broke New York's heart. More than half of Wilson's passing yards came in that game as well, with 450 yards in a 40–37 loss.

Wilson also said he tore his hamstring during the game against the Cowboys.

“I played that game, you know, I tore my hamstring on Friday in practice – the last game in practice. And I had a 2nd degree (rupture). I couldn't tell anyone about this.

“I actually went to practice with the Dallas Mavericks.” And you know, I was just quiet, just trying to get treatment and just knowing that I probably couldn't run from the goal line to the 10-yard line if I wanted to, but I feel like… I have to play this game.”
