Russell Crowe opens up about his weight loss journey.
During a performance on November 5 at “The Joe Rogan Experience” In the podcast, Crowe, 61, revealed how much weight he has lost since finishing filming his war film Nuremberg a year ago.
He said that at the time of filming he weighed 126 kilograms, or 277 pounds, and now he weighs 100.9 kilograms, or 222 pounds – a difference of about 55 pounds.
Crowe attributed his weight loss in part to injections and intravenous treatments for knee and shoulder injuries he suffered over the years.
“It calmed down the inflammation in my body,” Crowe said on the podcast.
“It's calmed a lot of things down and taken away a lot of the pain so I can go and work out and not have to suffer for two or three hours afterwards,” he added.
The A Beautiful Mind actor also said in the interview that he drinks less than he used to.
“I’m a big proponent of drinking,” he said. “It's my cultural heritage, and as a working class person, it's my damn right, Joe. But as you get older, you start to learn something about your abilities…”
“Now that I’m older, I know that one night a week, if I’m having fun, is enough. I try to eliminate intermediate materials,” he said.
Crowe explained that sometimes he has a “nice” glass of wine for dinner. As for the occasional drink, he said it was no longer his business.
“Now I try not to drink casually, but drink for the sake of it,” he said.
