False Summit, a two-person indie studio, has announced that RUNE GUNNER's Steam page is now live. The upcoming game is a co-op roguelike third-person shooter for four players, combining fast-paced gunplay with magic systems inspired by games such as Hades. Players can wishlist RUNE GUNNER now, with a playable demo planned for release in the near future.
RUNE GUNNER takes players to a world encased in the Shroud, a cursed realm born from an ancient quest for immortality. Deadly structures roam this space, powered by unstable magic, which the heroes also have to wield in order to survive. Each race becomes a struggle to master this power before it consumes everything.
At the core of the experience is a flexible class system. Players start each run with an innate hero class, and then layer additional classes mid-run to unlock new active abilities and passive runes. These combinations allow players to dynamically customize weapons and skills, creating powerful synergies that feel unique every time.
Progression focuses on improvements that change behavior rather than simply increasing stats. Magic runes alter the way weapons work, providing effects such as infinite damage stacking, ammo regeneration through shields, or explosive chain reactions from burning enemies. Weapons are shared between heroes and saved between playthroughs, and permanent upgrades allow players to fine-tune their starting loadout.
Procedurally generated rooms, rotating class options, and varied enemy encounters ensure that no two playthroughs will be the same. Designed for short co-op sessions, RUNE GUNNER encourages experimentation, teamwork and creativity as players delve deeper into the Shroud and fight to reclaim their world.
