Eidos Montreal is reportedly developing a new game based on the Alien franchise.
According to Insider Gamesnew game – described as “Shadow of the Tomb Raider with xenomorphs” – has been in development since 2020 “under various names”, including Marathon, and has “changed developers several times.”
Since the enemy “Al is designed to adapt and react to any tactics you use,” gameplay is expected to balance combat, platforming, and puzzles, with an emphasis on stealth and resource management in the single-player arcade survival horror game.
The anonymous source also revealed character names and abilities, such as a grappling hook and magnetic boots, and expressed hope that Sigourney Weaver will reprise her fan-favorite role as Ripley, but this has not been confirmed in any way yet.
Interestingly, the source also revealed that the game's budget is around £56 million ($75 million) and that it hopes to release “on all major platforms” in 2028, meaning there's plenty of time for details and mechanics to change.
Eidos Montreal declined to comment.
