Roots Devour Explores Its Way to PC Later This Month

Uncover the truth in Roots Devour

Roots Devour, a card-based strategy exploration game developed by Rewinding Games and published by GCORES PUBLISHING, will release January 27 on PC via Steam. The game will be available for $14.99 with a limited launch discount of 10% available for the first two weeks, bringing the price down to $13.49.

Built around a unique card linking system, Roots Devour combines strategy, exploration, resource management, and deckbuilding into a single experience. Players take on the role of a newborn eldritch creature summoned through a ritual in the forbidden forest. As you spread living roots across the world, you consume creatures, deplete the environment, and delve into the unknown in search of hidden truths. You must plan each expansion carefully because each connection contributes to both growth and risk.

Unlike traditional card games, Roots Devour places an emphasis on spatial decision making. Players must lay out cards and link them together using limited resources, creating an evolving web of possibilities. The full version includes 14 unique decks and hundreds of cards, allowing for a variety of interactions and playstyles. As they progress, new abilities are unlocked, allowing players to alter the landscape, manipulate events, and survive difficult situations.

The game unfolds over five chapters, which take approximately 10–15 hours to complete. Environments range from shaded forests to swamps, frozen mountains and populated areas, each introducing new rules that require adaptation. Along the way, players encounter mysterious characters whose destinies are shaped through dialogue, trade, and control.

Roots Devour promises to create a dark, gothic atmosphere through exquisite artwork and an immersive soundscape rather than outright violence. Fragmented knowledge and meaningful choices drive the narrative, creating an experience defined by exploration, tension, and thoughtful strategy.
