MILAN (AP) — Roma lost ground in the Serie A title race with a 1-0 defeat at Cagliari on Sunday after playing most of the game with 10 men.

Roma remained in fourth place but are one point behind Napoli and Milan, who still have to play on the day, and three points behind Serie A leaders Inter, who thrashed Como 4-0 on Saturday.

Napoli will later take on Juventus in a match that will pit coaches Antonio Conte and Luciano Spalletti against their former teams. Milan will play Torino on Monday.

It was Cagliari's first win since September and lifted the Sardinian side four points above the relegation zone.

The game changed in the 49th minute when Roma defender Zeki Celik brought down Cagliari midfielder Michael Folorunsho just outside the area.

The referee initially awarded a penalty, but after reviewing the incident, he realized that the violation occurred close to the penalty area. He canceled out the penalty but showed Celik a straight red card for denying a clear chance to score.

Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar made some impressive saves but Cagliari opened the scoring in the 82nd.

Gianluca Gaetano went completely unmarked to take the corner and fire the ball into the far post.

Earlier, Cremonese beat Lecce 2:0.
