Rogers just raised plans by $5 per month… again

If I don't write about Rogers fires people, I'm struggling with my network or connection fee increaseI'm writing about this directly about price increases.

Compared to a few weeks agoThe operator has increased the cost of all mobile plans by $5 (after the auto-pay discount). The plans are as follows, but unless you can combine it with a bunch of other Rogers products or a business discount, I'd hold off. Bell has one cheaper planbut it only offers SD video streaming, which is a deal breaker for me.

If you live in an area where only Rogers has good coverage, I'd recommend choosing the carrier's sub-brand Fido instead. You can get 40GB plan for $50 there. The only caveat is that in Fido for some reason it Mobile hotspot charges apply.

Indeed, if you can switch to freedomwhich allows you to roam for free on Rogers' network is probably the best option for most people. The only hurdle here is that you need to live within Freedom's local coverage area to be eligible for its plans. You can see these areas marked in darker orange. on the carrier's website. But if you're in the right region, it's hard to beat Freedom's prices, with deals like $39/60GB with calls, texts, and data in Canada/US/Mexico.
