Nick Reiner, son of a Hollywood director Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner were arrested and jailed in Los Angeles County after his parents were found dead at his home in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department has not officially announced Nick's arrest, but online jail records show he is being held on US$4 million bail.

Law enforcement sources told the Times that there were no signs of forced entry into the Reiners' home and that the Reiners had injuries consistent with stabbings.
The source said that after the incident, one of the couple’s children found them and contacted the police.
A representative of law enforcement agencies informed about the progress of the investigation told the Associated Press that investigators were interviewing a family member of Reiner and his wife, Michelle.
Investigators believe they were stabbed, said the official, who could not publicly discuss details of the investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Los Angeles police have not identified a suspect, Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton said at a briefing Sunday evening.
“We will try to speak with as many family members as we can to learn the facts of this investigation,” Hamilton said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a request for medical assistance shortly after 3:30 p.m. and found a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman dead inside. Reiner turned 78 in March.
Robbery-Homicide detectives were investigating an “apparent homicide” at Reiner's home, said Capt. Mike Bland of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Reiner and Singer's family confirmed their deaths in a statement, writing: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Michelle and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time.”
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called it a devastating loss for the city.
“Rob Reiner's contributions resonate throughout American culture and society, and he has improved countless lives through his creative work and advocacy while fighting for social and economic justice,” Bass says the statement. “An accomplished actor, director, producer, writer and active political activist, he has always used his talents to serve others.”
US President Donald Trump published in Truth Social about the “very sad” incident in Hollywood, calling Reiner “a jaded and struggling but once very talented filmmaker and comedic star.”
Trump said Reiner and his wife died “reportedly due to the anger he caused in others due to his severe, overwhelming and incurable illness, the mind-paralyzing disease known as TRUMP SYNDROME, sometimes called ADS.”

“He has been known to drive people crazy with his raging obsession with President Donald Trump, with his apparent paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration exceeded all goals and expectations of greatness, and with America's Golden Age dawning perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michelle rest in peace,” Trump wrote.
Many celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to Reiner after news of his death spread.
Former US President Barack Obama shared a statement on X, writing, “Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife Michelle.”
“Rob's achievements in film and television have given us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But behind all the stories he created was a deep belief in the goodness of people – and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into practice. Together, he and his wife lived lives of purpose. They will be remembered for the values they stood for and the countless people they inspired. We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who loved them.”
Director Paul Feig called Reiner his “true hero”.
“One of my favorite photos,” Feig wrote next to a photo of them. “Rob was a true hero of mine. A true titan visionary and a wonderful, sweet man. You never know if it's appropriate to post during a tragedy like this. But I just want the world to know what so many of us in the industry know. Rob was the best.”
John Cusackwho starred in Reiner's 1985 film. Sure Thingsaid he was “shocked by the death of Rob Reiner, a great man.”
Jerry O'Connell shared a photo with Reiner taken on the set of the film Stay with me on Instagram.
“Love you, Rob. Sincerely,” O’Connell wrote.
Corey Feldmanwho also starred in Stay with me, wrote“ALL I CAN SAY IS: I'M SHOCKED AND SCARED BUT I #LOVE YOU ROB! I WILL 4 MISS YOU!”
Cary Elwesstarred in Princess Bridetook to Instagram to share a photo from the set of the 1987 film.
“There are no words…” Elwes wrote.
Maria Shriver said Reiner and his wife were “some of my closest friends.”
“We raised our children together, starting with mom and me. We laughed together, cried together, played together, dreamed together. Last week we had dinner and they were in the best place in their lives: loving each other, loving their friends, their family, their country,” she wrote.
“I'll miss you Michelle. I'll miss you Rob. I love you both. Thank you for your friendship. God bless you both. Life won't be the same without you here, that's for sure,” she added.
Author Stephen King said he was “horrified and saddened by the deaths of Rob Reiner and Michelle.”
“A wonderful friend, political ally and a brilliant director (including two of mine). Rest in peace, Rob. You always had my back,” King added.
The investigation into the death by the Los Angeles Police Department continues.
