SEATTLE | The Nordiques have been away from Quebec for a long time, but the Avalanche jersey puts them back in the news.
The randomness of the NHL calendar meant that the coaches of the Canadian's last two opponents wore Nordiques colors.
On Saturday in Vancouver it was Adam Foote, and in Seattle we ran into Lane Lambert.
The former central player made 89 appearances for Fleurdelise between 1987 and 1989 and was quick to talk about his short stay in the Old Capital.
“Competing with the Canadian was very, very special, and this blue jersey is magnificent, one of the most beautiful,” he assured with a nostalgic smile.

Lambert's time in Quebec was short, but he had time to become acutely aware of the rivalry that was then simmering between the Nordiques and the Canadiens.
“I have a lot of memories, and not all of them are good,” he laughs. We lost game seven at the Forum. The score was 5:3. I remember it very well,” he said of the 1987 Adams Division final.
“But being in the Battle of Quebec and playing in that series was extremely rewarding, it was fun and it’s a memory I’ll never forget,” he concludes.
