Rocker Rick Hughes surrounded himself with a host of artists for his new solo album. Redemptionwhich will be published next Friday.

The Sword singer in particular turned to Robbie Krieger, the legendary guitarist of The Doors, as well as singer Amy Keys, who has lent her voice to a host of international artists, some of whom are among the biggest names in music, such as Elton John, Quincy Jones, Toto and Johnny Hallyday.

“I never would have thought, not even in my wildest dreams, that I would have The Doors guitarist on my album,” the singer said Friday morning from the QUB radio studio on 99.5 FM Montreal.

“We recorded the album in Vancouver at Little Mountain Sound Studios. […] with John Webster, one of rock's greatest living directors. When it came time to record Amy Keys, she was in Los Angeles. They told us, “We should do it in Los Angeles.” We found a studio. You may know Robbie Krieger, guitarist for The Doors. He has a studio there,” he told Mario Dumont.

“I immediately said yes. And while he was recording Amy Keys, I called my manager and asked him to play on the song. […] Negotiations took 3-4 months before he agreed,” continued the rocker, who will perform at Club Soda on Saturday to celebrate Sword's 45th anniversary.
