It doesn't matter how beautiful or complex your emails are if they don't land in your inbox.
Email communication is more important than ever, and access to your inbox is critical to your success.
And getting into your inbox depends on the sender reputation of your bulk email service provider (ESP).
Not all ESPs are created equal.
Simply put, deliverability refers to the likelihood that your emails will reach your subscribers' inboxes. This is one of the reasons why you choose to work with ESP. We place special emphasis on achieving the highest possible delivery speed and sender reputation to ensure that all of our clients' emails reach their desired destinations.
What is sender reputation?
Sender reputation is how individual Internet Service Providers (ISPs) rate ESPs in terms of their safety as senders. Sender reputation allows Gmail, Apple mail, Yahoo and all other ISP email services to know that your ESP is trusted and is allowed to allow your emails to land in your inbox. This is a complex process that requires diligence and constant monitoring.
We can't speak for every ESP on the market, but at FeedBlitz, protecting deliverability and sender reputation is our top priority. Without it, the emails you send will be as useful as smoke signals during a thunderstorm.
How does ESP deliver emails to inboxes?
Excellent deliverability requires a complex and ongoing maintenance process. ESP sender reputation is protected through a system of automated processes, monitoring and manual verification, including:
- Strict controls on all imports. Every email address added to our system is checked for known spam traps, blacklists and pots of honey. Questionable email addresses are flagged by our system and are stopped from importing.
*Fun fact: Our system also checks imported lists for plagiarism, which will flag any sets of email addresses imported into more than one account. Purchased listings do not meet our standards.
- 24/7 monitoring of all mailing lists. Each mailing list is reviewed for spam complaints, bounce rates, and excessive unsubscribes. If a listing does not meet the minimum standard, it is automatically suspended. This ensures mailing list functionality for all ESP clients.
…because ESP is only as healthy and respected as its weak list!
- Constant adjustments for individual Internet providers. ISPs are always setting up their spam filters, usually with little warning. Adapting to these changes requires constant tuning of internal mail servers to meet these demands.
- Prevent sending dubious emails. Before scheduling or sending an individual email campaign, FeedBlitz performs a series of checks to ensure the content does not contain features that could be flagged as spam. This includes checking for common words, phrases and content style (such as multiple unnecessary page breaks) that could cause the email to be caught by an ISP's spam filter.
Flagging one potentially bad email and preventing it from being sent protects the reputation of all emails.
- Automatic deletion of returned emails. Sender reputation is maintained by the ESP frequently sending mail to healthy mailing lists, which builds a strong reputation among ISPs. To maintain this reputation, email addresses that reject or return as undeliverable are automatically removed from your mailing list.
You wouldn't knock on the door if you knew no one was home, would you?
