Rivalry between Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns appear alive and well.
Texas entered this year's Red River Rivalry tournament after a disappointing loss to the Red River Rivalry team. Florida Gators. Meanwhile, the sixth-ranked Sooners entered Saturday with a perfect record.
Even though Texas had already suffered two losses, it still seemed to understand what was at stake in the Cotton Bowl. The tension became even more apparent when Oklahoma and Texas players met in the end zone and a skirmish ensued.

Oklahoma and Texas staff and referees intervened and attempted to separate the players.

The Sooners players eventually turned toward the tunnel.
John Mateer, a preseason Heisman Trophy contender, returned to the starting lineup Saturday after missing the game with a hand injury. This season, Mather has 1,215 passing yards and another 190 yards on the ground.

Meanwhile, once highly touted prospect Arch Manning largely failed to live up to expectations in his first season as Texas' starter.
Manning completes Longhorns season opener loss to Ohio State with 170 passing yards. He entered Saturday with 1,151 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Texas entered the 2025 Red River Rivalry with a 64-41-5 series lead. But the Sooners have won seven of their last 10 games.
