Red Dead Redemption 2 it is now the fourth-biggest selling game of all time, having sold 79 million copies since its debut in 2018.
That's according to publisher Take-Two, although you'd be forgiven for missing the news considering the milestone was announced at the same time we found out. GTA 6 has been postponed to November 26, 2026..

Hid inside my investor reportTake-Two reported that the success of the sequel increased sales of the entire franchise to 106 million.
This means that Red Dead Redemption 2 sold more copies than any other games released in the past seven years, including Elden Ring, Monster Hunter: WorldCall of Duty: Modern Warfare – and outsold blockbuster games such as The Witcher 3: Wild HuntThe Sims and PUBG (although I admit the latter eventually became free in 2022.).
It also eclipsed the previous holder of the world's fourth biggest game, Mario Kart 8.
In fact, only Minecraft, GTA 5 and Wii Sports sold more: 350 million, 220 million and 82.9 million respectively.
Back in July, completely unexpectedly, Rockstar has released an update for Red Dead Online containing four new adventuresStrange Tales of the Plague, Strange Tales of Modern Science, Strange Tales of the Bay, and Strange Tales of the Wilderness. This came as a surprise, because back in 2022 Rockstar has advised fans not to expect any further major updates for Red Dead Online.
We thought Red Dead Redemption 2 was great assigning it a “Recommended” badgecalling it “an astonishing open world that is unlikely to be rivaled until the next generation, saddled with a through-line from the previous one.”
