Start your adventure in Recit of the Heart
Honeypot Games LLC has launched a public test on Steam for Recital of the Heart, a fictional adventure game coming to PC. The playtest offers an early look at a top-down Metroidvania set in a surreal mirror dimension where artwork comes to life. Historical figures, fictional characters and the ghosts of their creators inhabit this world. Players follow Gregory on a journey through the labyrinth, where he faces off against possessed and disturbed opponents to recover the mirror shards. All the while yearning to return to the real world and reunite with his beloved Eliza.
Studio co-founder Kiefer Nemeth explains that Relation of the Heart was born out of a childhood dream that has stayed with him for decades. When he later shared the idea with co-founder Dante, the concept finally took shape. Thus, the game became a long-awaited creative project.
The game features a top-down view that focuses on exploration, combat, puzzles, and storytelling. Encounters range from strategic one-on-one battles to chaotic situations filled with bullets that must be dodged, blocked, or deflected. As players progress, they unlock new brushes for close-range combat and magical tools for long-range attacks. The game also features movement-enhancing tempos, each offering a different mechanic to promote tactical flexibility.
Players can further customize their playstyle with Flourishes, which modify attacks with effects such as extra projectiles or bullet deflection. Gregory is accompanied by Kand, a companion who provides guidance and humor and also serves as a throwing weapon and defensive tool.
Developed by a team of two, Honeypot Games is collecting player feedback to help shape the final experience and is inviting players to take part in a playtest of Recital of the Heart on Steam.
