LONDON (AP) — Buckingham Palace announced Thursday that King Charles III is stripping Prince Andrew of his titles and evicting him from his royal residence near Windsor Castle.

It followed growing pressure over revelations about Andrew's friendship with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and renewed allegations of sexual misconduct by one of Epstein's accusers, Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

Here is the palace's full statement:

“His Majesty has today initiated the formal process of stripping Prince Andrew of his style, titles and honors.

“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His tenancy at Royal Lodge has provided him with legal protection to continue living at the residence to date.

“A formal notice to quit the tenancy has now been served and he will move to alternative private accommodation. “These censures are considered necessary despite the fact that he continues to deny the allegations made against him.

“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies are and will remain victims and survivors of all forms of violence.”
