Ravens head NFL with six Pro Bowl nods despite season of struggle | NFL

Six Baltimore Ravens players were selected to play in the Pro Bowl games this season despite the team almost certainly not making the playoffs. The Ravens lead the league in Pro Bowl wins, along with the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

Baltimore's Pro Bowlers include defensive end Patrick Ricard, wide receiver Zay Flowers, center Tyler Linderbaum, linebacker Roquan Smith, safety Kyle Hamilton and punter Jordan Stout. However, they are 7-8 this season and only have a 9% chance of making the playoffs, according to Next Gen Stats.

The AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars selected just one player: long snapper Ross Matyszyk.

The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, as well as the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers are sending five players. The New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings are the only teams without a representative this season.

Reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen, Drake May and Justin Herbert are AFC guards. Sam Darnold, Dak Prescott and Matthew Stafford are the NFC QBs.

Kansas City's Travis Kelce was selected to his 11th Pro Bowl, tied with Jason Witten for second place among tight ends behind Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez (14).

Nineteen players were first-time selections, including Eagles cornerbacks Quinion Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, Dolphins running back De'Von Achane and Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens. Chargers tackle Joe Alt was drafted, although he only played six games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

San Francisco's Kyle Juszczyk is headed to his 10th Pro Bowl, the most among defensive players. Niners left tackle Trent Williams is the fourth offensive lineman to be selected to 12 Pro Bowls since 1970, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Bruce Matthews (14), Randall McDaniel (12) and Will Shields (12).

Colts defensive end Quenton Nelson became the second offensive lineman to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons since 1970, joining Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Thomas (10). Cincinnati's Ja'Marr Chase is the third wide receiver to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first five seasons since 1970, joining Tyreek Hill (8) and AJ Green (7).

Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons is the first defensive player to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first five seasons since Aaron Donald (10). Jalen Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback, found success as a free safety in his first season with the Steelers.

The selection of players was determined by a consensus vote of fans, players and coaches, with each group's vote counting as one-third of the total tally.

This is the fourth year of the Pro Bowl Games after the NFL scrapped the full-contact all-star game and replaced it with a week-long skills competition and flag football game.

The events will take place in San Francisco before the Super Bowl. Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice (NFC) and Steve Young (AFC) will coach the teams in the flag football matchup on February 3rd.
