Raptors star Barnes wins monthly defensive honour

TORONTO – Scottie Barnes has been named NBA Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month for October-November.

He is the first Toronto Raptor to win the award since it was created ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Barnes has helped Toronto get off to a 14-7 start while bolstering a group that sits at the top of several defensive categories.

His 64 combined steals and blocked shots were the most in the NBA all-time. Barnes also sealed the win over Charlotte with a blocked call on Nov. 17.

The swingman is averaging 19.9 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 21 games.

Oklahoma City's Cason Wallace won the Western Conference award.
