On the wave of phenomenal success “Dhurandhar”, which became one of India's biggest box office hits in 2025, the makers have planned a sequel for Eid 2026.
Dhurandhar 2 will release on March 19, 2026, with a simultaneous release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam on a pan-India and global scale, marking a significant expansion from the Hindi-only theatrical release of the original.
The first part tells the story of a ten-year operation by Indian intelligence, during which an undercover agent infiltrates the criminal and political world of Karachi. The sequel is expected to pick up from a cliffhanger ending.
Aditya Dhar is directing films and Gio Studios and production company B62 Studios. Ranveer Singh leads the cast along with Akshaye Khanna playing the antagonist. The cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera and Naveen Kaushik.
The decision to release the film in five languages was taken in response to unprecedented demand in the South Indian markets, despite the first film being available only in Hindi. The original Dhurandhar has generated exceptional popularity in South India through word of mouth and virality on social media, with southern distributors and exhibitors consistently reporting high audience demand for the dubbed versions. According to Jio Studios, fans have been vocal in calling for the film to be available in regional languages, prompting the makers to ensure that Dhurandhar 2 reaches audiences across different regions in their local languages from day one.
The original “Dhurandhar” collected INR 730.77 crore ($81 million) at the Indian box office, while overseas box office collections reached INR 186.9 crore ($20.8 million) till Monday, according to Jio Studios.
Dhurandhar 2, which is currently in post-production stage, is considered one of the most awaited Indian releases of 2026. Creators are also exploring the possibility of mainstream releases beyond the diaspora audience in some foreign territories.
