- Fulgar confirms ransomware attack linked to notorious RansomHouse group
- The attackers published internal documents, including bank balances, accounts and confidential messages.
- Fulgar's clients include companies such as H&M, Adidas, Wolford and Calzedonia.
Fulgar, a long-time synthetic yarn manufacturer that supplies many leading fashion houses, has confirmed it is facing a problem. ransomware the attack is associated with the RansomHouse group.
On November 12, the attackers listed Fulgar on their leak site, claiming that they had been storing encrypted data since October 31.
Screenshots posted on the leak site showed internal files including documents, spreadsheets, messages and financial information, as well as records that appeared to relate to bank balances, invoices and exchanges with external entities.
Global textile company is now dealing with sample leaks
Fulgar has been a significant player in the fiber market since the late 1970s, producing polyamide 66 and coated elastomers used in hosiery, intimates, sportswear and technical textiles.
The company operates Europe's largest spinning mill and distributes Lycra and Elaspan in several regions, with operations extending to Italy, Sri Lanka and Turkey, and its client list includes H&M, Adidas, Wolford and Calzedonia.
The post contained a warning addressed to the company's management; “Dear Fulgar SpA management, we are confident that you are not interested in leaking or selling your confidential data to a third party. We strongly advise you to begin resolving this situation.”
Such stolen information can become the basis for more precise phishing attempts based on inside information.
RansomHouse has been active since 2021 and has listed over a hundred victims on its leak site.
U.S. cyber authorities have previously linked the group to affiliates collaborating with Iranian actors, noting that the arrangements include encryption support for a portion of the ransoms.
The Fulgar breach once again shows that even large vendors can be exposed when one group of ransomware gains access to internal systems.
Identity theft protection becomes important once confidential records begin to surface, as the exposed details could be reused in targeted attempts against employees or partners.
Using best antivirus software can help reduce the risk of additional trade-offs during such periods of uncertainty.
Correctly configured firewall provides additional protection against subsequent intrusion attempts that often accompany ransomware incidents.
Despite these levels, attackers can still use leaked internal documents to create highly convincing campaigns, creating broader risks for companies in manufacturing industries.
