Testing Grounds is now live in Rainbow Six Siege Xand it brings players a new armor and speed system.
Testing Grounds will be an experimental branch where Ubisoft will try out new features. The armor and speed system has been updated and the new one offers much more flexibility. If you're confused, here's a quick explanation of how you can use the added features to give you an edge.
How Proving Ground Armor and Speed Works in Rainbow Six Siege X
The armor and speed system was a well-known mechanic. However, the new system available at the range is different from the conventional version. When it comes to the operator, you can enjoy many more options. You will no longer be limited by the old point system (1-3, 2-2 or so on).
Five new armor systems have been installed.
- Light: 70 hp
- Tactical: 90 hp
- Average: 110 hp
- Heavy: 130 hp
- Juggernaut: 150 HP.
Each operator will be able to choose between different types of armor, but there's a catch.
- Three speeds: light, tactical and medium.
- Two speeds: tactical, medium and heavy.
- One speed: medium, heavy and Juggenaut.
It's an exciting situation. While you can change the loading of a slower operator by sacrificing its health, there is a limitation. Take Montagne, for example. Montagne can equip Medium, Heavy and Juggernaut.
While you can sacrifice some of his health for extra mobility, you won't be able to break his archetype. You can't completely sacrifice his health to gain more speed. The same applies to operators that are already mobile. You can increase their health, but only to a certain extent.
Therefore, you can adjust the speed and strength of your operators, but only up to a certain limit. Ubisoft will control the options, but the added flexibility is much nicer. This is possible because Medium is the only type that can be used by all operators within the game.
