How Las Vegas Raiders off-season begins, questions around Max Crosby the future with the organization will only continue to grow. During his press conference to wrap up the 2025 season, general manager Jon Spitek addressed Crosby's situation but made no guarantees that the star pass rusher would return in 2026.
As the Raiders competed for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 draft. NFL Draftthey decided to sideline Crosby for the final two games of the season, citing a painful knee injury. This did not please Crosby, who said he “didn’t care about choice.”
This led to rumors of an irreparable rift between Crosby and the team. When asked if he thought Crosby was a “no-tradeable player,” Spytek was noncommittal, emphasizing what the two-time All-Pro title means to the franchise.
“I have a lot of respect for Max and how much he loves playing the game,” Spytek said. “Over the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Max. I think it was well documented that he didn't like the idea of not playing football. I think you always want that from your best players. In fact, I think that's why they're your best players.”
“I love Max. He epitomizes what a Raider is. I have been open about this since the day I sat here almost a year ago. I continue to believe in it.”
Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5 million deal back in March, signaling his desire to remain in Las Vegas. However, a lot has changed in 10 months.
First year The Pete Carroll era was so disastrous that he was fired on Monday, and the team forced Crosby to sit out the game despite his objections. The Raiders now face a major rebuild. They have the number one overall pick and are in the early stages of their coaching search.
Despite battling an injury for most of the season, Crosby still managed 10 sacks and 28 tackles for loss. In seven seasons with the Raiders, Crosby totaled 69.5 sacks and 133 tackles for loss. If Las Vegas really wants to part with him, several teams will win from the acquisition of Crosby's services.
