I've yet to read a novel by the Nova Scotia author, but apparently I wasn't the only one thinking about seeking it out, as the book about coveted rival hockey players finally made it onto the original fiction list this week.
“It's wild because this show is based on a book that was never widely available in bookstores.” Reed told Sue Carter in the Star.
And Heated Rivalry isn't Reed's only book to hit the bestseller lists. Reed's 2022 novel The Long Game is now ranked seventh on the Canadian fiction list. It's part of Reed's “Game Changer” series of strange novels, continuing the story of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, Canadian and Russian hockey stars who began to fall in love with each other in “Heated Rivalry.”
A hockey fan, Reed told Carter that writing the Game Changer books helped her deal with conflicting feelings about her favorite sport.
“I need hockey, but I hate the culture, especially around the professional men's leagues,” she said.
Much of the love so far has been for Heated Rivalry, which airs its first season finale Friday on Crave (yes, a second season has already been greenlit).
