Quinnen Williams was frustrated with Jets losing before Cowboys trade

Quinnen Williams only knew New York Jets as he was drafted third overall in 2019, meaning there weren't many wins in his NFL career.

Now that Williams was traded to the Dallas Cowboys ahead of Tuesday afternoon's NFL trade deadline, Williams has made no secret of how he feels about this season as the Jets continue to struggle.

“I think the world knew I was upset that I had been there for so long and still lost,” he told reporters on Wednesday via New York Postas he prepares for his first game with a star on his helmet.

“Any ultra competitor, man, any guy who plays this game to win is going to be disappointed even if you win 100 games and lose one.”

The Jets are 1-7 this season, and Williams has seen Gang Green go 33-75 since 2019, despite making three Pro Bowls and earning All-Pro honors in 2022.

COWBOYS' JETS TRADE STAR QUINNAN WILLIAMS FACES HARD CRITICISM: 'DALLAS DRINKING'

There were rumors that Williams was frustrated with the way the Jets were playing, and he can't be blamed as he endured seven straight losing seasons. But considering he was a fan favorite despite his struggles, Williams still has the love of those who supported him during his time in New York.

“New York will always have a special place in my heart,” he wrote in a farewell post on X. “To my teammates, coaches and the entire Jets organization, thank you for believing in me and helping me grow on and off the field. To the fans, thank you for hugging an Alabama kid and showing love through all the ups and downs. You welcomed me with open arms and gave me room to grow. Your energy and passion made every game unforgettable.”

While Williams is ready for his next chapter in the NFL, the trade itself has puzzled many, including sportscaster Bill Simmons, who said “Dallas is drunk” after receiving a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick and Mazie Smith in exchange for Williams.

Cowboys are 3-5-1 after a loss at home to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9, but owner Jerry Jones made a move to add Williams to a weak defense that could use help across the board. Dallas ranks 31st in yards and points allowed per game this season.
