The Quebec Superior Court upheld a class action against ticket master which accuses the American company of charging improper commissions for ticket sales.
In Monday's ruling, Judge Eleni Giannakis said the plaintiffs had met the conditions for a full trial and that compensatory damages would be allowed if they prevailed.
The class action lawsuit, filed by Montreal law firm Paquette Gadler, says the service fee charged by Ticketmaster violates Quebec's Consumer Protection Act and the Quebec Civil Code.

The lawsuit says Ticketmaster's fees fluctuate based on ticket prices rather than the actual cost of the services provided. The law firm believes that this pricing scheme is unlawful.

The lawsuit was filed in August 2024 on behalf of plaintiff Felipe Morales and includes Quebec residents who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster for North American concerts since July 2021.
Ticketmaster, which sells tickets to concerts, sporting events and other shows around the world, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday's decision.
