Sony gives PlayStation 5 some bold new tones, including a new eye-catching green color that will really help your giant console look a lot brighter than it already does. Three new “Hyperpop” colors for PlayStation will arrive in March in the form of new DualSense controllers and cases for the PS5 console. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on Wednesday.
The Hyperpop Collection for PS5 is official and includes new color schemes: Techno Red, Remix Green and Rhythm Blue. Red may appeal to Ferrari enthusiasts, while others feel distinctly confined to scheduled release in March from Bungie Marathonwhich drips with similar blue and green hues. The DualSense controllers and console lids feature a gradient that goes from glossy black to each vibrant RGB color, which is what Sony says inspired the new look.
“We maximize volume with a collection that doesn't just stand out, it takes over the entire room,” said Leo Cardozo, a member of SIE's color, material and finish design team. “Inspired by the RGB glow of your impressive gaming rigs, these new colors are LOUD in the best possible way.”
It looks like PlayStation 5 Pro owners will have to stick with the existing colors. Sony has only confirmed console cases for the base version of the PS5.
Sony Hyperpop DualSense wireless controllers will be available for $84.99/€84.99/£74.99. Matching PS5 console cases will be available in limited quantities in some markets, Sony notes, priced at $74.99/€74.99/£64.99. The collection goes on sale March 12, with pre-orders going live on January 16 at 10 a.m. local time. Direct.playstation.com and participating retailers.
