Hulu gave the green light to the reboot “Jailbreak“, Diversity learned.
The project was first reported to be in development at Hulu in December 2024 with pilot order. The cast includes Emily Browning as Cassidy, Drake Rodger as Tommy, Lucas Gage as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas as Michael aka “Ghost”, J.R. Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea and Miles Bullock as Darius aka “Red”.
As previously reported, the new series will be set in the same world as the original series, but will feature different characters and a new storyline. The official logline reads: “Former soldier turned corrections officer (Browning) takes a job at one of America's deadliest prisons to prove how far she will go for the one she loves.”
Elgin James serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer of the series, and is also directing the pilot. Don Olmstead executive produces alongside Prison Break creator Paul Schering, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz. Olmstead, Adelstein and Moritz served as executive producers on the original series. Studio 20th Television, which produced the original show.

Prison Break aired on Fox for five seasons and became a hit for the network. The original cast included Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Sarah Wayne Callies and Rockmund Dunbar. The show also spawned a TV movie, The Last Breakout, and a low-budget spin-off, Prison Break: Proof of Innocence, which was available exclusively on mobile phones. The series has also inspired a video game, online webisodes, a magazine, and a novel.
