He continued, “I made it out of black and white polished sculpted marble. It was very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, may have been the marble that was there originally!”

Trump sparked controversy this month by demolishing the East Wing of the White House as part of a project to build his new 90,000-square-foot, $300 million ballroom. Costs are covered by private donors.

However, most Americans oppose demolition to make way for the Trump Ballroom, according to ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll conducted using Ipsos Knowledge Panel.

The poll found that 56% of Americans oppose the decision, including 45% who “strongly” oppose it. The poll found that just 28% of Americans support it, while 15% strongly support demolishing the East Wing for a ballroom.

Trump criticized Harry Truman's renovation of the Lincoln Bedroom, including the bathroom, earlier this month when he first announced he was remodeling the room.

“It's a bad style… It's actually Art Deco, and Art Deco doesn't go with 1850 and the Civil Wars,” Trump said at the time.

Truman remodeled the room in 1945, shortly after assuming the presidency from Franklin D. Roosevelt, redesigning it primarily in blue.
