Prep basketball roundup: Freshman Lucia Khamenia, sister of Nikolas, shows she has game

Those who watched 6-foot-3 freshman Lucia Khamenya of Harvard-Westlake's women's basketball debut Tuesday night have seen her play before. In four years on the junior team, brother Nicholas Khamenia became an All-American due to his versatility. He's now a freshman at Duke.

Lucia showed those same qualities in a 67-28 win over Granada Hills. She had 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists. She made a three from the baseline just like her older brother did. Also making her debut was freshman Valentina Collins, the daughter of former Harvard-Westlake, Stanford and NBA player Jarron Collins. She scored 10 points and had an assist, passing the ball to her sister Alessandra.

Hollen Vann made four threes and scored 12 points. Madison Gillette added 11 points as the Wolverines won in first-year coach Will Burr's debut.

“I think this will be a good start to the season,” Khamenia said.
