Homestyle Foods LLC, a Ukrop company based in Richmond, Virginia, announced today that it is recalling four varieties of its decorated cupcakes due to an undeclared soy allergen.
A release agent containing soy was used to prevent sticking of the cupcakes listed below. These products may contain soy, a known allergen that is not listed on the product label.
A soy allergy can cause mild symptoms such as hives and itching to severe and life-threatening anaphylaxis.
All products involved expire on December 15th. The recalled products and label identification information are as follows:
- 8″ cake with buttercream frosting/pink roses, net weight 44 ounces and UPC number 72252591452;
- 8″ cake with buttercream frosting/red roses, net weight 44 ounces and UPC number 72252591456;
- 6″ cake with buttercream frosting/red roses, net weight 33 ounces and UPC number 72252591820; And
- The cake measures 6 inches with buttercream frosting/confetti, net weight 30 ounces and UPC number 72252591849.
The recalled cupcakes can be purchased at the following stores:
- Kroger in the Mid-Atlantic in Virginia and West Virginia
- Dill Marketplace in Richmond, Virginia
