Police issue fresh appeal over tower block murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a 26-year-old man shot dead in a Motherwell tower block have launched a fresh appeal for information.

Jordan Gray's body was found on December 15 at a flat in Shields Court, Lanarkshire.

Police Scotland said a post-mortem examination found he had suffered fatal injuries “consistent with being injured by a firearm”.

The force appealed to the local community for help on what would have been Mr Gray's 27th birthday.

Det Supt Grant Hendry said: “We are focused on getting answers for Jordan’s family and finding out who is responsible for his death.

“Saturday, December 27th would have been Jordan's birthday. This is an extremely difficult time for his family.

“They are supported by specialists and ask that their confidentiality be respected.”

Mr Gray's mother, Lynn Gray, and father, John Lindsay, said the family were “devastated” by his death.

Police Scotland said a major investigation team and local officers were working on the case.

Officers are trying to trace a man who was seen in Shields Court at approximately 10.35pm on Sunday, December 14 – the day before Mr Gray's body was found.

Det Supt Hendry added: “While we carry out CCTV and forensic investigations, I would like to directly appeal to the compassion of the community.
