- PNY Suspends Black Friday Deals Due to Rising NAND and DRAM Prices
- NAND prices have doubled, reducing the supply of solid-state drives and flash drives.
- DRAM and NAND shortages hurt hardware sales ahead of 2026
PNY, one of the largest PC hardware companies, has suspended production of its products. Black Friday promotions on USB flash drives, citing rising NAND prices.
The decision comes amid widespread reports of rising memory prices and growing concerns about the availability of storage components in 2026.
While early deals on peripherals, GPUs, and CPUs are still active, discounts on SSDs and memory products seem to be dwindling quickly.
There is a shortage in the data storage market
Memory makers are reportedly benefiting from increased demand for chips used in artificial intelligence hardware, driving up prices for NAND and DRAM.
Phison's CEO recently confirmed that NAND prices have more than doubled, with all 2026 production already sold out.
Likewise, NAND and DRAM prices rose as much as 20%, signaling supply chain tightening that affects everything from high-end SSDs to USB flash drives.
PNY's suspension of storage promotions may seem minor, but it hints at deeper tensions in the industry.
The company's Elite Turbo Attache 4 flash drive, once discounted at $7.99 at Best Buy, was expected to drop even more over the next year. Black Fridaybut these plans are now uncertain.
Some listings remain discounted while others have quietly returned to full price.
PNY officials later clarified that not all trades had been cancelled, but that the decision reflected a cautious stance as supply became uncertain.
If the NAND shortage already extends to flash drives, the impact on SSD production could be worse than expected.
This reflects a similar slowdown in the market. Enthusiasts tracking parts for custom PC builds have seen prices soar, especially in DDR5 RAM kits.
In one case, the 64GB Kingston FURY Beast kit became more expensive than the Ryzen 7 9700X processor it was supposed to accompany, which is an unusual inversion.
The current situation mirrors past supply crises, but with more acute consequences.
Unlike hard driveswhich are made up of mechanical parts, SSDs and USB drives rely entirely on NAND chips, making them more vulnerable to these market fluctuations.
As NAND and DRAM prices continue to rise, it is unclear whether manufacturers like PNY will be able to maintain consumer-friendly prices and consistent promotions.
