PlayStation announced that PS Portal is receiving a huge update that allows users to stream games in the cloud. The new feature, officially dubbed PS5 Cloud Game Streaming, will be available to PS Plus Premium subscribers and launch on November 5th at 9:00 pm ET.
Cloud Streaming for PS5 games includes games like Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fortnite, Ghost of Yōtei, Grand Theft Auto V and Resident Evil 4.
The PS Portal will also get a new home screen design with three tabs: Remote Play, Cloud Streaming, and Search. Of course, the Remote Play tab allows you to connect PS Portal to your PS5 and play games installed on your console. Previously, this was the only way to play games on the PS portal.
A new Search screen lets you quickly search for games that support Cloud Streaming.
The update also includes support for 3D audio during remote play and cloud streaming in supported games, meaning you can use the Pulse Elite headset with a controller. You can also lock your PS portal with a password and check the network status screen easily. In-game purchases are now supported during cloud streaming, and you can also purchase additional items and in-game currency.
The update will allow users to receive game invites from friends who are playing the same game while Cloud Streaming and join a multiplayer session from the quick menu.
Welcome updates, but I would still like the PS portal to allow you to download games to the device so I can play games while I'm on a flight.
