Planta Industrial Drops ‘Punk Wave Sin Barreras Vol 1: Conociéndonos’

The Bronx duo is capping off a big year with a project that packs even more quirky energy.

Planta Industrial already done giant splashwinning over new fans with their unique punk-metal-meets-dembo-meets-rap sound. The duo of Saso and akathedarknight have already had a banner year: they won the 2025 LAMC Discovery Award, played Summerstage and had a buzzy city tour, and recorded major collaborations (Saso was just featured on Raw Alejandro album). But they top it all off with another musical blow, this time with their EP. Punk Wave Sin Barreras Volume 1: Getting to Know Each Other.

The new project touches on a range of genres and references the Latin American cultural memory of the nineties and early 2000s. “If you grew up Latino in the US, you probably remember the iconic Inglés Sin Barreras course,” Saso and akathedarknight said in a statement. “With these volumes, we're bringing back the sounds of our formative years – when bachata, merengue, metal, punk, rap and electronic music lived side by side. It's a tribute to our upbringing, a lorio of sounds and influences shaped by living between the Bronx and the Dominican Republic.”

The EP includes songs that have already gone viral, such as “Abnormales” and “That's My Bitch” – the latter being their first major track together, marking a new era for the musicians, who attended high school together but worked in different ways. “We wanted to create something different from what was out there now, and we had genius,” the group noted.

Other tracks are filled with New York pride and reflect their upbringing in the city: “Arthur Ave,” “You NOT From,” “NEW YORK!!” and “Teteo In The Bronx.” (“This is our anthem, representing our culture and way of life,” Planta Industrial says of the latest anthem.)

The group promises that even more music will be released in the near future, as well as new concerts. They will perform at the Viva Pomona festival this weekend and plan to perform at the Vive Latino festival at CDMX in March 2026.
