Pittsburgh Steelers work out All-CFL defensive back Evan Holm

The Pittsburgh Steelers practiced with Winnipeg Blue Bombers cornerback Evan Holm on Tuesday, sources confirmed. 3DownNation.

The 27-year-old was named All-CFL for the first time in 2025 after recording 55 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. He started all 18 of the team's regular season games as a midfielder.

The Edina, Minnesota native spent the last four seasons with the Blue Bombers, recording 225 tackles on defense, 17 tackles on special teams, seven interceptions, two sacks and two forced tackles in 63 regular-season games. He was named All-West Division in 2023.

The five-foot-eleven, 188-pound defenseman is a pending CFL free agent.

Holm played collegiately at the University of North Dakota, where he made 148 tackles, three tackles for loss, 33 pass knockdowns, six interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one return touchdown.

NFL CFL training window opens November 17 and closes on February 10th at 12:01 pm EST. The window to sign with an NFL team opens on January 5 and ends on February 10 at 12:01 pm ET.

NFL teams must request permission from CFL franchises to train players, but the request cannot be denied. CFL players can opt out of their agreements north of the border if an NFL team offers a contract, although the CFL team retains its exclusive rights to the remainder of the pre-existing contract.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10–8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as a crossover team before losing in the East semi-finals to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 13 regular-season games while going 6-7 as a starter.

The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offense, third in net defense and eighth with a minus-eleven turnover margin. The club's leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, the leading receiver was Nick Demski with 1,001 yards, and the leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with an average attendance of 32,343, up 3.7 per cent from the previous year.
