Peter Green, the character actor best known for playing the iconic villain Zed in Pulp Fiction, has died.
NEW YORK — Peter Green, character actor, best known for playing the iconic villain Zed in “Pulp Fiction,” died. He was 60.
He died at his home in New York, his manager Gregg Edwards confirmed Friday. The cause of his death was not immediately released.
“He was just an amazing guy,” Edwards said. “Perhaps one of the greatest character actors on the planet. I worked with everyone.”
Green was born in Montclair, New Jersey and landed some of his first leading roles in the films Laws of Gravity in 1992 and Clean Shaven in 1993, according to IMDb.
In 1994, he played a memorable villain in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, who is tortured by characters played by Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames. That same year, he played another main villain alongside Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz in The Mask.
At the time of his death, Greene was working on two projects, including a documentary about the federal government's withdrawal of funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development, Edwards said.
“We’ve been friends for over a decade,” Edwards said. “Simply the nicest person.”
