For what escaped La Salle College The Explorers from a year ago now compete in the PIAA high school football state championship in Pennsylvania.
The Explorers got stellar defensive play from the Notre Dame signee. Joey O'Brien on the way to victory over Pittsburgh Central Catholic at Chapman Field in Mechanicsburg for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class 6A State Championship. This is just the second state title for La Salle College in program history, the second coming in 2009.

O'Brien finished the night by intercepting three Explorer passes and returning one back to the house 84 yards to cap the La Salle College game.
The future Fighting Irish athlete played not only in defense, but also in attack. O'Brien also scored a touchdown in the third quarter to help the Explorers build a 21-7 lead over Central Catholic.
I don't think we can talk about La Salle College without mentioning the quarterback's efforts. Gavin Sidwar (Missouri signee), who finished the night with two touchdown passes.
Sidwar ends his Pennsylvania high school football days with the state championship trophy that eluded him a year ago. It was a season to check off boxes and get revenge for the 2024 campaign as the Explorers were able to defeat St. Joseph's Prep, the team La Salle lost to last year in the district tournament, early in the postseason.

Finishing the season with a state championship and a likely No. 1 ranking in the state of Penn State is just the proverbial cherry with the whipped cream on top of what has been a phenomenal 2025 campaign for the Explorers.
