Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s memoir is coming out in January

NEW YORK — NEW YORK (AP) — Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro A book coming out in January touches on everything from his rapid political rise to the trauma of his home being set on fire.

Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, announced Tuesday that Where We Keep the Light: From a Life of Ministry will be released Jan. 27. Shapiro, 52, has become a prominent national Democrat since being elected governor in 2022. Kamala Harris was shortlisted as a vice presidential candidate in last year's presidential election and is often cited as a potential 2028 candidate.

According to Harper, Shapiro “shares powerful stories about his family, his faith and his career in public service.”

“Governor Shapiro reflects on what he has learned during his journey,” Tuesday's announcement read in part, “knocking on doors, serving his community, and bringing people together to solve the complex problems we face.”

In April a man set fire to the governor's mansion while Shapiro and his family slept inside, authorities said. The Shapiros, who had been holding a gathering hours earlier to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Passover, were awakened by state police and taken to safety. Cody Ballmer pleaded guilty last week on charges of arson and attempted murder and was sentenced in a plea deal to 25 to 50 years in prison.
