Penn StateThe on-field struggles early this season seem to be affecting the recruiting process.

The four-star 2027 wide receiver commits Friday. Khalil Taylor told Rivals' Hayes Fawcett that he is reneging on his promise to the Nittany Lions and is restarting his recruiting. Taylor has been committed since March, when he chose Penn State over offers from Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Nebraska, Syracuse and more than a dozen others.

But with more than a year left before he officially signs a contract with the school, he will resume the process.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete is ranked No. 60 overall and No. 11 overall in the 2027 class, according to the rankings. Rating of industry competitorsan equally weighted average that uses all three major recruiting services.

Rivals, however, costs a little more than other services. The latest update to the Rivals300 ranked him as the No. 31 overall prospect in the country and the No. 7 wide receiver in the country.

Taylor was one of the most productive pass catchers in the country.

In the off-season, Taylor transferred from Seton-LaSalle To Pine-Richland. He was arguably one of the best players in the state last year with the numbers he put up at Seton LaSalle. He caught 51 passes for 932 yards and 22 touchdowns, helping the Rebels to an 11-1 record and advance to the WPIAL championship game.

Through six games this season, he has 12 catches for 264 yards, eight of which were touchdowns.

“Khalil Taylor made some dominant film,” says Rivals Director of Scouting Charles Power. “He's excellent with the ball in his hands. I mean, you know it's going to be good when you watch a sophomore and he has highlight film of just touchdowns. He had a dominant sophomore year with 24 touchdowns and about 1,300 yards. He has a well-rounded skill set. He's a guy who can stand out in his routes. I think he's really good with the ball in his hands and has the potential to be a YAC (yards after catch) monster.”
