PENANCE Closed Beta Will Run From 21 to 23 November 2025

Reveal the truth in REPENTANCE

Furistic Studio and Kitsundie Tales have announced that PENANCE will enter a closed beta phase from November 21st to 23rd on Steam. This psychological survival horror game draws on the atmosphere and tension seen in games such as resident Evil, Alan WakeAnd silent Hill. The project focuses on emotional storytelling and slow-burn horror, shaped by the inner turmoil of its protagonist.

The story follows Kalen, a man weighed down by guilt, who finds himself trapped in a place that seems familiar but distorted. This strange realm is covered in a living mist that changes and reacts as players move through it. The fog hides enemies, hides paths, and changes the feeling of safety from time to time. Its unpredictable nature underlies the experience, turning simple exploration into a constant source of anxiety.

Penance offers a single-player journey in which your moral decisions actively influence the development of Kalen's story. Every part of the world reflects his fragile mindset, from the environmental sounds to the puzzle design. As the game progresses, night falls and the fog thickens, plunging Kalen deeper into the truth he has been avoiding.

Combat plays a central role, offering opportunities for a stealthy approach or more confrontational tactics. Players can rely on the environment to stay hidden or push forward with force if necessary. The sound design heightens the tension with carefully crafted audio cues that echo throughout the world, adding to the psychological weight of each encounter.

The closed beta version of PENANCE will be released on November 21st. It will allow you to evaluate its atmosphere before the full release, scheduled for February 2026.
