Peloton is recalling nearly 45,000 exercise bike seat posts sold in Canada following reports in the United States that the post assembly broke during use.

The US training equipment company said the voluntary recall, which includes Original Series Bike+ models, will affect about 833,000 bikes sold in the US.

“The Original Series Bike+ seatpost may break during use, creating a potential risk of falls and injury to consumers.” Peloton said in a recall notice.

The recall, carried out in collaboration with Health Canada, comes after the company said it received three reports of seatpost failure among users in the United States. There have been no reports of damaged seatposts from Canada.

The affected bike models were sold only in Canada and the United States and were manufactured in Taiwan from December 2019 to July 2022, the company said.

They can be identified by the model number PL02 on the label. In addition, the model has a serial number starting with the letter “T”, located inside the front fork, behind the front fork, or behind the flywheel.

The bike is 4 feet long and 2 feet wide and has an adjustable seat and handlebars.
