Paramount Plus is getting a price hike in early 2026

Paramount Plus is getting more expensive again. Within its earnings report published Paramount announced Monday that it will raise prices for U.S. subscribers effective January 15, 2026, with the ad-supported Essential plan increasing from $7.99 to $8.99 per month and the ad-free Premium plan rising from $12.99 to $13.99 per month.

Paramount says the price increase will “encourage further reinvestment in the user experience and deliver an even stronger programming lineup” in the future. Like many other streamers, Paramount increases the prices of its streaming service almost every year. Paramount Plus raised prices in 2023 earlier hiking with them further in June last year. The company also recently raised prices in Canada and Australia.

In the first few months of Skydance's ownership, Paramount Plus added 1.4 million subscribers, bringing its total to 79.1 million. Paramount concluded a deal worth $7.7 billion. it will also allow UFC fights to be broadcast on the streaming service.

In addition to raising prices, Paramount said it was “cancelling” free trials of its streaming service and “reviewing discounting practices.” The company also plans to update the technology stack behind Paramount Plus and its free, ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV to improve their performance, and is exploring how it can use artificial intelligence to offer better personalization and recommendations.
