Ottawa Redblacks shut down Dru Brown, will start Dustin Crum against Alouettes: report

The Ottawa Redblacks have locked up franchise quarterback Drew Brown until the end of the 2025 season. according to TSN 1200 narrator A. Y. Yakubek.

The 28-year-old Palo Alto, California native was benched in last week's loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, during which he threw for 141 yards and three interceptions. In his second year in Ottawa, Brown threw for 2,389 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in nine starts, posting a 2–7 record.

Brown is under contract through next season. contract for $462,500 in hard money with a maximum possible value of $471,500..

Dustin Crum, who has gone 2-3 in five starts this season, will start Monday against the Montreal Alouettes. The 26-year-old Grafton, Ohio native has thrown for 1,609 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions this season and has carried 71 times for 393 yards and 11 scores.

The Redblacks were eliminated from postseason contention after a loss to the Roughriders last week, marking the fifth time in the last six seasons that the team will not make the playoffs.

The Ottawa Redblacks (4-11) will host the Montreal Alouettes (8-7) at Percival Molson Stadium on Monday, October 13, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 pm ET. The Redblacks were eliminated from playoff contention. with a loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week while the Alouettes remained on the sidelines.
