The Ottawa Redblacks will have a new defenseman at center this week. according to a report by TSN 1200's AJ Jakubec.

Dustin Crum, who has been the starter since Drew Brown was ruled out for the season with a knee injury, will not play in Saturday's game against the Montreal Alouettes. The 26-year-old has been absent from training this week due to a head injury suffered in last week's loss to the same opponents.

Tyree Adams was selected to start the team's penultimate game, his first since winning his debut in 2023. The 28-year-old hasn't attempted a single pass in the regular season since suffering a torn ACL in that game. He completed 31 of 49 pass attempts for 412 yards, one touchdown and one interception in 21 career CFL games, while rushing 11 times for 81 yards.

Crum started six games this season, completing 166 of 234 passes for 1,771 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed 78 times for 429 yards and 11 touchdowns while going 2-4 at the helm.

Both Adams and Crum are in the final year of their contracts. The Red-Blacks have already formally dropped out of the fight for the playoffs.

Ottawa (4-12) will host the Alouettes (9-7) in their final home game at TD Place on Saturday, October 18 at 3:00 pm ET. Montreal beat the team 30-10 last week.
