Ontario to boost home care funding by $1 billion – Winnipeg Free Press

TORONTO — Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy has announced that the province will increase funding for home care by $1 billion over three years as part of its upcoming fall economic statement.

Bethlenfalvy says expanding home care services will free up hospital beds and ensure people can get care where they need it.

This represents an eight percent increase in funding, he said.

In addition to $982 million over three years, the government will also spend $170 million over the same period to expand the Hospital to Home program, which helps patients return home after a hospital stay.

Funding tops $2 billion over three years for home care, announced by the government last year.

The government says the funding has helped increase the number of patients using home care by 18 percent over the past two years.
