Olympic Games: Scott Wedgewood added to Hockey Canada’s roster

There was only one game in the NHL last night… and it was a bad one.

The Dallas Stars beat the Edmonton Oilers 8–3, with both Oilers goaltenders (Calvin Pickard and Stuart Skinner) allowing four goals each. Skinner received… only eight shots.

Connor McDavid can defend his teammates by saying that it's a team game and that the skaters need to do a better job in front of the goalies (which isn't a lie either, let's face it), but… it's tough in Edmonton.

In fact, as we reach the quarter-finals of the season, it's clear that something needs to change in Edmonton. What's happening doesn't make sense.

After 25 games, the club's masked players have an efficiency rating of 0.860. This is the club's worst result in the first 25 games of a season in more than 45 years.

The Oilers will look at options to improve… but years have passed and nothing has changed. Will they be able to find a decent goalkeeper in such circumstances?

We all have doubts.

We've suspected that Team Canada (with an eye on the Olympics) might not be impressed by the Stuart Skinners or Samuel Montembaults of this world since the start of the season… and we just got more proof.

Scott Wedgwood has been added to Hockey Canada's roster, according to Darren Dreger.

Wedgwood is having a great season in Colorado. Really club of the hour in the NHL. So there is nothing illogical about it if you look at it from that point of view.

But seeing him on this list reminds us how difficult it is for Canada to find a decent goalie, doesn't it?

We need to consider all possibilities…

Let's not forget that three of the goalies involved either got off to a bad start or were injured – as was the case with Adin Hill. This shouldn't stop Jordan Binnington from going to the Olympics… but what if that doesn't happen?

after a while

– Good question.

“The whole city is talking about his name now.”

– A name to watch in the draft.

– Noah Dobson at the Games? [BPM Sports]

– Jamie Benn scored his 400th NHL goal yesterday.

– Today there are several games on the schedule, tomorrow there are none. It's American Thanksgiving, but in Canada we call it…Thursday.
